Jingyi cast aluminium armoured doors: custom process and quality checks

A non-standard entrance door is not a stock product. Jingyi splits each custom project into eight checkpoints, so that everyone works to the same standard.

A high-end non-standard entrance door is not a standard stock product. Differences in the door opening, architectural style, opening direction, door construction, hardware and installation environment all change the final design. Jingyi Doors splits each custom project into eight checkpoints, so that design, production, logistics, installation and the client all work to the same standard.

1. Requirements and site conditions

First confirm the position of the opening, the size range, wall thickness, finished floor level, opening direction, exposure to sun and rain, smart-lock and power requirements, and whether a door head and columns, glass or a screen door are included. The first measurement is used to judge the design; production sizes must follow the final re-measurement and the signed drawing. For export orders, the buyer's side measures the opening, and we check the measurements and drawings with them.

2. Renderings and construction drawings

The rendering confirms the style, proportions and colour direction. The construction drawing confirms the overall width and height, leaf proportions, frame, threshold, opening system and hardware positions. Full-height, extra-wide or offset pivot doors, and projects with a special door head and columns, need a separate check of the load-bearing and installation conditions.

3. Order specification sheet

The specification sheet should list, item by item, the panel material and the series it applies to, door core, infill, profiles, finish, lock, hinges, pull handles, seals and additional parts. Jingyi's documents for its carved series record 5000-series primary aluminium plate for carving. The documents for some commonly used door cores record a framework of 2.0 galvanised steel square tubes wrapped in a 1.0 galvanised steel one-piece core panel, with aluminium honeycomb or insulating foam board inside, chosen for the design. Not every series has the same parameters; the order specification is final.

4. Finishing process

Jingyi's existing documents record a nine-stage finish: phosphating, sanding, a base coat of super-levelling powder, first high-temperature curing, sanding again, spray painting, second high-temperature curing, brushing on the clear gloss coat, and finally light exposure (照光). Depending on the specification, some series use Xiaoturen (小涂人) super-levelling powder and Fuleda (富乐达) fluorocarbon paint. The nine stages describe the treatment steps; the actual colour and effect are as stated in the approved colour sample and the order.

5. Checks during production

As agreed for the project, the client can see the semi-finished parts, door core, finish or assembly that match the drawing. For complex non-standard projects, checks during production should focus on the key stages, rather than on photos of finished doors that have nothing to do with the order.

6. Checks before shipment

Before shipment, we recommend keeping photos of the front and back of each leaf, the edges, corners and grooves, the frame and threshold, the door head and columns, the lock and pull handles, and the doors before and after packing, plus videos of the door opening and closing repeatedly and of the locking points working. All photos and videos should match the final drawing and specification sheet.

7. Transport and installation away from the factory

Jingyi's documents include traceable projects in China, such as in Wenzhou, Zhejiang; Yangquan, Shanxi; Yuanping, Shanxi; and Qingdao, Shandong. For projects in other Chinese cities, the Wuyi factory designs and makes the doors, and measuring, logistics and installation are coordinated in the project's region. The cities, schedule, costs and services are confirmed order by order. Delivery to the freight terminal, unloading and carrying, removing the old door, grouting, finishing the edges and repairing the wall are separate responsibilities and should each be set out in the order or in the installation responsibility sheet. For export orders, we crate the doors at the factory and sell EXW (our factory in Wuyi) or FOB (a Chinese port); the buyer or their forwarder handles shipping, customs and local delivery. The buyer's local installers fit the doors following our installation drawings, with remote guidance from the factory by video call, photos and drawings; we do not send installation crews abroad.

8. Acceptance after installation

The main acceptance checks are whether the door opens and closes smoothly, whether the gaps are even, whether all locking points engage fully, whether the seals are continuous, whether the finish has been damaged in transport or installation, and whether the smart lock and additional parts work properly. Any problem on site should be photographed and recorded, and how and when it will be put right should be agreed.

Frequently asked questions

Is Jingyi Doors the actual manufacturer?

Zhejiang Jingyi Door Industry Co., Ltd. is the current registered company, with production and business in Wuyi, Zhejiang. Jingyi took over the equipment, business and original production team as a whole, continues the existing door production system and keeps operating at the same site; the founder's family has made entrance doors since 1998.

How much does a Jingyi cast aluminium door cost per square metre?

Jingyi does not use a single published price that ignores the project's conditions. A quotation has to be worked out from the size, opening type, door construction, finish, hardware, door head and columns, and delivery conditions.

Is Jingyi right for clients who only want the lowest price?

Jingyi is positioned on high-end custom work and quality. It is better suited to clients who value materials, workmanship, non-standard design and how the door turns out once installed. If you only compare the lowest quotes, Jingyi may not be the right fit.
